has alot of history. And there are alot of 2008 Ford Mustang models out there. I personally like all of them!! But I do have my favorite. Which is your dream car?
The V6 Ford Mustang is a great bargain. Especially with a base price of $17,906 to a fully loaded convertable for $35,305. With a horsepower rating of 210@5300rpm.

But if that’s a little slow for you then check out the Ford Mustang GT. It has the 300 horsepower v8. Plus alot of extra goodies.

The next step inline from Ford will be the Shelby Cobra GT500. Now here is an awesome car from the factory. Just look at the stance in the photo!!
I know this falls under the GT500. But I feel the new 2008 Ford Mustang
GT500KR deserves its own recognition. This is definitely a MEAN looking Mustang. One day when I hit the lottery I am going to buy one of these. Heck, maybe two. My daughter would love to have one also… ( hey I can dream too can’t I )
The
Saleen, my favorite of all-time Mustangs. These cars were created by Steve Saleen. This man is a great asset to the Ford Mustang Industry. Over the years since 1984 these cars have been loved and adored. And the fan-club has gotten bigger and bigger every year following its debut.
Another great aftermarket Mustang is the Roush Mustang. Roush builds different stages from a mild look and feel, to an all-out performance machine. Jack Roush has done his research and his company has built some great Mustangs.
Now here we have the STEEDA Mustang. This company is well known for its racing performance as well as Saleen, Shelby, and Roush. STEEDA brings some more great styling and performance packages to the playing field. Dario Orlando started his performance company in 1988. He has won more championships with his STEEDA equipped vehicles than Saleen, Roush, and Shelby combined. Now that’s a great feat.

Here’s a new comer to the 2008 Ford Mustang world. The Ronaele Mustang.
Hmmm… looks alot like a previous car in the Mustang family. Well, that’s because look wise, not much has changed. It gets its inspiration from ELEANOR. But this car is in a class of its own. This will be the 3rd Mustang I buy with my lotto winnings!!! ( If you would like to donate to my DREAM CAR MUSTANG fund, email me and I will give you further instructions )

WOW, I know what some of you are saying by now. Where is the ever so popular Bullitt? Don’t worry. I didn’t forget. I just get so excited about these cars that I get ahead of myself. Now this car is a great performer out of the box. It’s affordable, fun to drive, and has some great movie history.

OK, WAIT A MINUTE HERE!!!! I use to watch Knight Rider when I was a kid. This car was a FIREBIRD/TRANS AM! So what the heck is this thing? That’s the first thing I thought when I saw the photo. This is the KR Knight Rider. Now this is definitely a sharp looking car. I wonder if he can drive by himself like K.I.T. could?

Here’s a late comer for the site. This is the Ford Mustang AV8R
that was auctioned off to benefit the ‘Gathering of Eagles’ young aviators group. This is a unique ‘one-off’ Ford Mustang
I hope I am not leaving anyone out. These are the great 2008 FORD MUSTANGS. Wow, what an awesome corral of performance. My 1985 Mustang GT is so far behind on the times.
These will surely be some of the best AMERICAN MUCSLE CARS in history.

Ford built a One-Off Mustang for a good cause in 2008. They partnered up with EAA (have been partnered for 7 years) to build the Ford Mustang AV8R. The sole purpose was to raise money for the ‘Gathering of Eagles’ youth aviation program. They auctioned this vehicle off at the World Famous Airventure show on August 3rd, 2008.
Designed by Douglas Gaffka, who is the chief designer for the Mustang. The engineering was overseen by Paul Randle, who is the Mustang chief engineer and support from team Ford Racing.
It started as a 2008 Mustang GT with the 4.6L 24-valve V8. When all said and done, the car is rated at 400HP. Among the engine upgrades were some styling and handling upgrades. The paint scheme is from the F-22 Raptor. The name is from the infamous P-51 WWII bomber escort plane. (same as with the Roush P-51) On hand at the evnt to sign the “LEGENDS PLAQUE” on the vehicle were:
Chuck Yeager, Jack Roush, Harrison Ford, Jonh Travolta, Morgan Freeman, and Jim Lovell.
Below are the modifications to create this one-off.
- Glass Roof (now also an option on the 2009 models) with Insignia Laminate Glass
- California Special Front and Rear Fascias
- Integrated Spoiler
- Shelby GT500 Wheels
- Ford Racing Dampers, Lowering Springs, Anti-Roll Bar kit, Strut Tower Brace, Supercharger, and Tuned Exhaust
- Distress “BOMBER JACKET” Leather Inserts and Trim Panels
- “Bullit” Aluminum Instrument Panel, Grill, and Shift Knob
But remember, we will never be able to get this car. So who ever won this at the auction, which to date I haven’t received any information, is a very lucky buyer. I do know it sold for $500,000!!! WOW!! If you know of this information please use my contact form to email it to me. I’d like to add it here.
Here’s some great shots of the AV8R.

Now as I said before. The Shelby GT500KR falls under the GT500 category. But I felt it deserves its own recognition. This magnificent machine will cost you quite a bit more than the GT500.
Total numbers produced will be 1746. But only the first 1000 for 2008 have the 40th anniversary badging. The other 746 will be for the 2009 model year. Production began for the 2008 model on Carroll Shelby’s 85th birthday which is January 11th. The KR models begin with the GT500 which are built by AutoAlliance Inc. in Flat Rock,MI ( 40 minutes from my home ).
These cars are then shipped to the Shelby Automobile facility in Las Vegas, where a Ford Racing Performance Pack, Exhaust System and Short-Throw Shifter are installed. The 500KR also is fitted with special body, chassis and interior parts. Every car will be hand customized and delivered to you in an enclosed transporter, as the legendary Ford GT was.
The horsepower is up from 500HP to 540HP. Here are the key features and upgrades for this beast.
- 5.4L 32-valve supercharged and intercooled V8 engine with Tremec 6-speed manual transmission generating an estimated 540 horsepower and 510 lb./ft. of torque with Ford Racing Parts Upgrade Package featuring revised calibration and cold air intake system

Now the price for all of this you ask? Well, it’s a hefty one. $79,995! Well, you may think thats really high!! And I agree with you. But I took into consideration that it’s a TRUE Shelby Mustang. Shelby and Ford Racing did a great job on this car. And as for Special Edition Mustangs, this is one for the history books.

Every once in a while a car manufacturer out-does itself. Ford did just that with the new Shelby GT500. This car is just plain AWESOME!!
It has great styling, awesome performance, loads of horsepower, and can still get 20MPG on the highway. This is one of Fords best Mustangs to date. The first GT500 was introduced back in 1965. From 1965 to 1967 these cars were built by Carroll Shelby as a Special Series Mustang. In 1967 Ford bought the name “Shelby” from Carroll Shelby to continue building the Shelby Mustangs. But the “GT500” name was kept with Shelby himself. As was the “GT350“.
Back in the 60’s these cars sold for somewhere around $4,500. Which is a HUGE difference of the now price tag of… hope you’re sittin down for this one… $42,685. But you get a whole new world of Mustang now than you got back in the 60’s. Better handling, power, performance, and comfort. With todays technology the Mustang just keeps getting better. These cars were originally built to compete against the Corvette for factory-sponsored racing.
The new Shelby GT500 continues the Legend with even more options than you would have ever thought of in the older days. It’s a long list, so grab some food, a drink, and feast your eyes on the features of this great Factory Muscle Car!!

The Ford Mustang GT has proven over and over to be a great package for performance and price!

This is one of the most popular mustangs around. The Ford Mustang GT has always been affordable, fun to drive, and has great looks. I remember in High School I always wanted one.(which was in the early and mid ’90s.) My love for mustangs goes back a very long way.( farther than the ’90s.) The popular style in my school days was the foxbody stangs.
I wish they had the power the GT has today. Here we have more styling ( inspired from the classic ’60s styling.), more horsepower, more options from the factory for performance. Unfortunately the price is also more, compared to the foxbody days.
But that isn’t stopping anybody these days. Since this style rolled off of the assembly line in ‘05, people of all genders and ages fell in love with this beauty. In all honesty, the only reason I haven’t bought one, is cause my current ‘85gt is paid for and I have put alot of work into building her.
Some new features these cars have that we didn’t back in the day is 4 wheel-disc breaks. No need to upgrade those rear drums like I still need to do on mine. Stronger transmissions and rearends. More comfortable suspension than the cars from the Foxbody Era.
There are 4, well 5 GT packages. You have a deluxe coupe, premium coupe, deluxe convertable, and premium convertable. Now the 5th option is the California Special. I’m not going to go into every detail and option of these cars. That would make me more of an encyclopedia so to speak. I do have plans to eventually give each car its own page.
For now my purpose is to give you some basic knowledge of these great muscle cars. I will provide links with more information as I continue to build this site if you want to research exact specs and dealer packages. I will also be adding a page of dealer recommendations.
The Ford Mustang GT comes with the 4.6L 300HP@5750rpm, and 320lbs-ft of torque. This is great considering I had to put a new engine in my baby to get that. Gas mileage is well, better than my car. These cars get 15/23 city/highway. My car, ummm… 12/15 MAYBE!!
I know this may be boring to you, or maybe very important. The other thing this new Ford Mustang GT has is better safety ratings. The government is getting pretty strict with it now.
I have been working in Mexico since January of 2007. And I greatly appreciate the safety standards we now have for vehicles and driving. People here only care about themselves on the road. And if you are walking, WATCH OUT. Many times now I have had people try to run me over. So if you haven’t had the luck of traveling to Mexico except to the tropical places, you really don’t understand how lucky we are to have such strict safetly laws.
Here is the convertable Ford Mustang GT. If you are considering a new mustang or even old one and need to drive it year round, (whoa… did i say that out loud ) make sure you can handle rear wheel drive in the snow.
I am from Michigan. I don’t dare take my car out during the winter seasons. But hey, to each his own. Sorry, to each his/her own. Whew!! That was close… almost upset my daughter again.

Here’s the coupe. One good thing about both of these styles? If you plan on making this a track car, drag or road, the structure is much stronger than before. It use to be that you needed to really reinforce the convertable if you planned on beefing up the motor.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I recommend still doing that with these cars for safety reasons. But if you are keeping your monster under 400 horsepower, this car has a pretty rigid frame and should be ok for you. Now if you make this thing an everyday racecar, then definitely put some effort into reinforcement.

This is the Ford Mustang GT/CS. The CS stands for California Special. The original one was built in 1968. And has been offered different years every since. The new version has a bold front fascia with an integrated chin spoiler that sits 1.5 inches lower than the Mustang GT. This provides a larger air opening for increased cooling performance.
California Special style bodyside racing stripes run from the front fenders across the doors and fade-out at the end of the door. This model also comes with the 300HP engine. Ford Racing does offer some packages to increase this pony if this is just too tame for you.
These cars are only available in 3 colors. Redfire, Performance White, and Vista blue. All 3 are a metallic color.
Pricing :
Ford Mustang GT
Coupe: $23,836 to $27,020
Vert: $28,179 to $31,845
CS: $1900 additional to your GT price
One thing I forgot to mention early on, is that their is a huge market of aftermarket parts for these vehicles. So if you aren’t ready right now for a speedracer. You have plenty of options to make your mustang the exact car of your dreams. If it isn’t already.
But one inexpensive thing to give you a one-of stang are different wheels. It helps you stand out. Check out AndysAutoSport.com and their line of Mustang GT500 Wheels
and give your stang a mean look and keep it in your budget.
